Over the last almost 20 years the church has been walking through either an addition to the church or a remodel/renovation.
As a reminder:
2007- We built a new 6000 sq/ft Life Center addition to the back of the existing building, along with remodeling a portion of the existing building to include a more secure children's wing. Through this faithful walk, the church has celebrated many many new souls won to the kingdom through various mission efforts, such as the Heaven/ Hell Outreach, Vacation Bible School, and Revivals. This addition has allowed us to continue to serve the community that God has placed us in through many other ways.
2014- We gutted and remodeled the inside of the Sanctuary and renovated the education and administrative offices of the building.
Both projects were funded not only through the tithes and offerings of the membership but also through the added generosity of the members and from those who once called Thornton home, or maybe still do, but God has led them to another part of the world.
The entire time our parking lot has taken a back seat and has deteriorated over the last 25 years. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, the church asphalted the current church parking lot. As the years have progressed we have learned that our parking lot was not prepared correctly initially to withstand the weight and activity of the lot. Even through resealing efforts that the church has made it is not enough to sustain the lot.
After a lot of research and visits by the experts, we have decided to begin the renovation of the parking lot. During this project, the existing parking lot will be dug out and concrete will be poured back.
The total cost is more than what the church has in its funds, therefore the decision has been made to proceed in sections and to cash-flow the entire project. As funding becomes available another section will be completed. At the current rate of concrete; which continues to increase, we will be able to complete only about 3000 sq/ft at each time.
The cost of 3000 sq/ft currently is approximately $18,000 to $20,000.00 each.
Currently, there are approximately 19,500 square feet of parking lot that will need to be repaired.
